My parents are aging, and their beliefs are still rigid. My younger self always seemed mixed up because the words my parents said didn’t match their actions. Nothing seems to make sense even at this adult age I have slipped quietly into their excommunication. I still feel the need to be silent when around my parents. I can’t seem to balance their belief of God and church with their actions. I see myself meandering through their accusations, distressed by their judgment and perplexed by their polysemic sentences.
